TMK active timing for a high-speed cycling weekend

The Huangcaishan mountain-bike race and the Baili corridor road race were held on 10 and 11 October 2020 in Zhuangzi, Yuci, Jinzhong. The road race was 52 km with 198 riders. The mountain race was 63 km with 376 riders.

The course followed the orchard corridor through Zhuangzi: Dujiashan, the old educated-youth village; Shousheng Temple at Puchi; the old forts at Zhaidi; Xiaoyao Valley; the Jinshui River; and the peach orchards above Huangcai.

TMK engineers laid the timing gear in advance. The weekend used the TMK Active system, mechanical clocks and TMK score software, built for high speed and for producing results without a complicated setup.

TMK Active is built for speed events. The A400 decoder and the PowerTag chip cover swimming, skating, triathlon, cycling, karts, motorcycles and drones, where the timing job is harder.

The road stage is flat but runs through villages, so stray radio matters. The mountain stage is rough, so the chip has to take a beating. The A400 uses two active frequencies and rejects interference. The PowerTag is light, sealed against shock, water and heat, and transmits on its own.

Riders arrived with the clock ticking, and TMK score updated the results as they crossed. The engineers watched the same moments.

TMK has worked for sixteen years, in many countries, and is still moving.
